Feminized, regular and autoflowering seeds

Feminized, regular and autoflowering seeds

Hereby we give a statement for the different types of seeds that are available.
We start with the regular seeds. The regular seeds originate due to the pollination
of the flowers of a female cannabisplant with pollen from a male cannabisplant.
The seeds from this fertilization are male and female. Separating the two is not a
possibility without germination and growth to determine the sexe.
Despite the many stories that you read that there are tricks to see if a seed is
male or female this is not true. Usually you can recognize the males in the growth
fase because they grow faster than the rest and are a bit taller and lanky. Usually
these are the most beautiful ones in the grow fase.
As soon as the blooming sets in the males will start to make balls with pollen in
them en the females will blossom. If you do not want seeds in your cannabis then
you have to recognize the males in an early stage and remove them. If you
pollinate one strain with a different strain you will not automaticly get a new
strain. One side will look like the father and the other side will look like the
mother. Between them there are 100 different variations. If you plant these seeds
you will get 100 different strains. From 99% father and 1% mother to 99% mother
and 1% father and everything in between. From there you would have to select
wich plant has the characteristics you want. This can only be done with strict
selection so you would have to plant hundreds of plants and find the best one
from them. If this is not satisfactory you could choose for more characteristics
from the mother or the father to mix in by crossing them with 1 of the 2. After
that the selection process would have to start all over again till the crossing is
satisfactory. This is an very intens job and takes a lot of time. That is the reason
why breeders are carefull with their genetics and they will not easely give it away
so other breeders or growers can runs of with years of work. It helps to cross
plants with each other that are much alike and have a lot of the same
characterisitcs.
Feminized Seeds work different then regular seeds.
With feminizing you change a female to a male. This sounds strange but i will
explane here. The cannabis plant has a mechanism build in in which the female
plants can make pollen just as the male plants can. This happens by stressing the
plant in different ways. A few of these are to mix up the light hours or the
temperature and to switch up the nutrition very much. Through this the plant can
start to make a sort of bananas that contain pollen. This pollen is 100% female
and pollinate a female flower. Through this it’s female + female = female. Every
seed that comes from this will only have female genetics. But i have to say that if
your plant starts making bananas with light regime and through tempature stress
you will not have the most stable genetics. It is better that your plant won’t turn
through these factors but there really is a chemical substance needed to make it turn.
Then we still have the autoflower genetics.
The word autoflower basically says it a bit, automatic blooming. That means that
where normal plants need less than 13,5 hours of light to bloom the autoflower
wil bloom even with 24 hours of light. You really will only have an advantage
here, outside. Inside you can determine hoe many light hours through your time
clock and you won’t need automatic blooming plants. For outside it is an  advantage because you can harvest at every moment in a year. You won’t have problems with a bad autumn because you will be done by then. The average autoflower takes about 11 to 12 weeks from germinate to harvest. Because of this you could harvest 2 times in a sea climate and about 4 times in a tropical climate. If you germinate the autoflower and pre-grow in the last weeks before your current ones will get harvested  you could even harvest more per year. Currently ther is a new trend with semi autoflowers, this is something which we focus very much on. Where normal autoflowers stay small and don’t have much yield ( 20 to 80 gram per plant depending on the climate) will semi autoflowers grow a bit more and will have bigger plants (100 to 180cm) with bigger yield ( 60 to 200 gram per plant) Then there are also the regular strains who with a little bit of auto genetics will shorten the blooming time. This means when a plant is normaly done in the beginning of october it will be done for harvest in the beginning of september just by adding a little bit of auto genetics.
